Here are links to some songs, with lyrics for the hearing impaired, dedicated to the Occupy movement and fellow Wisconsinite Scott Olsen, the 24-year-old Iraq War vet police damn near killed at Occupy Oakland.

Please add your own music links and any thoughts you’d like to share in comments below. Hopefully, in a couple of days or so we’ll have lots of great music and greetings to send out to the dedicated people who are putting their bodies on the line at Occupy protests everywhere.

Feel free to link or duplicate this post and circulate it in whole or in part any way you want.  It's all good.

Solidarity from the Cheesehead Rebellion!

Hi, gen. I tried to have a fairly good mix, new and old, different genres. I was thinking about the journey and the emotions experienced along with way...pain, confusion, anger, leading to people getting together, getting beat up, getting angry again, and then working toward a better future.

Please contribute anything that moves you.

AI, thank you. I always wanted to know who did the song "Winds of Change". Bonnie Raitt did a wonderful job at the song "burning down the house". A few of Jewel's songs

Jewel - Life Uncommon

Jewel - Who will save your soul

AI; I was introduced to Tony Childs in small restaurant just outside of Leadville, CO. I returned from mountain climbing and stopped in a tiny place because I was starving and exhausted. One of Tony Childs songs was playing and I drove the staff crazy until the owner came out and told me the singers name. I wish I could remember the name of place. It had a handful of homes and one restaurant. Blink and you would miss the community. They had a cop car in front of the restaurant but the policeman inside was made of wood. The artist did an amazing job and he looked real.

the most amazing thing about music is the memories it evokes...also the feelings. I hear the old stuff and feel young again.

I have Tony Child's album with that song on it.

Love the Jewel songs!

Paul, this column didn't go far either; it didn't even get up in the columnists box for some reason. Maybe we can try again sometime.

It's so odd & never have been able to guess what may take off or simply languish, but it is still a wonderful idea and I'm happy to have the chance to add my picks & enjoy everyone else's! :~)

Can we help being so cutting edge that we need to wait for popular culture to catch on, lol? I was in a thread from a seed nearing added in 2008 this morning and relevant as if she were still here which I keep hoping she will be again along with a few other real mavericks who were burned out as beacons!

A thread from 2008 still active... incredible.

I wish I had more time to pursue things here. But I love all the other things I'm into too.

It was fun to work on and painful at times. It's hard not to draw comparisons with the movement of the last mid century. We thought things would get better; in some ways they did. But in other ways, they got worse. The good news is there are people doing something about it.

Go 99ers!
